The Columbus law firm of MacMurray Peterson & Shuster LLP has assisted the Consumers' Choice Award in establishing an Advisory Board. The Board comprised of 4 individuals from the community who will serve as board members for one year. One of the responsibilities of panel members will be to ensure that CCA recipients have not only garnered the requisite votes but that they are not in conflict with ethical business practices. The Advisory Board may consider the reports of various business and consumer advocacy groups and governmental entites when making recommendations for the approval of nominations and award recipients.

Board Panel members include; Ted Adams Esq., Director Government Affairs for The Limited, Jackie DeGenova Esq., Assistant Chief Legal Counsel for the Ohio Auditor of State, Kimberley A. Doucher, Esq., Civil Trial Attorney for Keener,Doucher,Curley & Patterson L.P.A. and John McGory, President, The McGory Group, a public affairs, economic development and land use firm located in Westerville.

Advisory panels will be organized for the Atlanta, Georgia, Columbus, Ohio and Dallas, Texas programs.

Theodore L. Adams serves as Director of Government Affairs of Limited Brands, a specialty retailer, headquarted in Columbus Ohio.  Founded in 1963, Limited Brands operates six retail brands (Express, Limited Stores, Bath & Body Works-C.O. Bigalow, White Barn Candle, Victoria’s Secret and Henri Bendel) with more than 3,800 specialty stores nationwide and have international sales through Victoria’s Secret Direct (internet/catalogue)
 
Prior to joining Limited Brands, Ted served as the Director of Special Counsel to Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery.  He has also served as a law clerk to United States District Court Judge George C. Smith, a special assistant United States Attorney, General Counsel to the Ohio Student Aid Commission, and as a counsel to former Ohio Governor George V. Voinovich.
 
Ted graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in political science and obtained his law degree and master’s degree in Health, Science and Physical Education from The Ohio State University.  He is a member of the Ohio, Federal, and Sixth Circuit Bars.
 
Ted serves on the Board of The Make-A-Wish Foundation, the New Albany Community Authority, Columbus Legal Aid Society and the Columbus Children’s Hospital.
 
He and his wife Irene have two children and reside in New Albany, Ohio.

Jacqueline “Jackie” DeGenova currently serves as Legal Counsel for the Ohio Auditor of State.   Prior to this position Jackie served as the Assistant Chief and then Chief of the Ohio Attorney General’s Consumer Protection.  Jackie has also been Chief Legal Counsel for the Ohio Department of Agriculture and a law clerk for Franklin County Common Pleas Judge James J. O’Grady.
 
Jackie received her Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School and Bachelor of Arts in English from Miami University, Oxford Ohio.
 

She has given numerous speeches and continuing legal Education seminars on topics involving consumer protection.

John McGory
The McGory Group
 
John McGory is the owner of The McGory Group, a public affairs, economic development and land use firm located in Westerville.  The McGory Group specializes in development, land use, growth, housing and environmental issues. 
 
He is also partner is U.S. Villages, a land development company that focuses on urban residential and commercial development.  The firm’s 2003 development, Delaware Place in Victorian Village, was awarded best new construction in Victorian Village by the City of Columbus office of Historic Preservation and the Victorian Village Commission.
 
McGory has served on numerous land use, housing and growth-related committees and has written extensively on these subjects.  Before starting The McGory Group, he served as government affairs director of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio for 11 years.  Prior to that he served as public information director for The Ohio Supreme Court.  He earned a masters' degree in communications from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Ohio State University.
 
McGory’s community involvement included:  Commissioner, the Ohio Public Works Commission; The United Way of Franklin County Housing Vision Council; Program Committee; Columbus Metropolitan Club; The Ohio State University Urban-Rural Land Use Committee; The City of Westerville Uptown Review Committee. 
 
McGory also served on the Board of Directors for the Central Ohio Code Officials Association, the Franklin County Consolidated Plan Coordinating Committee, the Comprehensive Housing Assistance Strategy Committee, the City of Columbus Comprehensive Plan Technical Land Use Review Committee, the Development Committee of Central Ohio, the advisory committee for the director of the Ohio EPA among many others. He co-authored, Building from the Ground Up.  McGory also served on the Ohio Home Builders Association's Board of Directors from 1996-99 and was a speaker at seven NAHB State and Local Government Affairs' conferences.
